Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered in the past. Didn't find much in the search.
I'd like to rebuild my lift pump and have done a bit of reading. Seems fairly easy but I have a couple of questions.

1. Do I have to remove the lift pump from the engine or not? If not, do I still need to drain the engine oil?

2. Where do I get a hold of the springs/ seals to rebuild the pump with? Looks like Peach Parts used to have a kit but it appears that was many years ago. I've looked for rebuild "kits" and haven't found much of anything. I'm uneasy about buying off of ebay not knowing what quality of parts you are really getting... I would much rather spend $10-20 on some seals and springs than $160 on a new pump!

3. Besides replacing the springs and seals is there anything else involved? I've seen one guy soak the pump (minus the plastic pieces) in carb cleaner overnight to get the gunk out of the pump body itself. Seems reasonable I guess. I was planning on replacing the fuel lines with the banjo fittings as well since the current ones look pretty gunked up. At some point I'm going to drop the tank and clean it out good and replace the screen filter but that's a whole different project...

Thanks a lot!

The Bosch Kit for your Year and Model with an MW Type Fuel Injection Pump (The Lift Pump will have 3 nuts and studs holding it in place) is about $30 and the genericl Lift Pump Rebuild Kit is about $16. Can't remember if that includes shipping.

If you are going to do the complete Rebuild you need to remove the Lift Pump in order to change a Tiny 5mm O-ring.

There is a cheaper Valve Kit from Mercedes but it lacks the littl O-ring so you cannot do a complete rebuild with out the O-ring.

Both Kits come with Valves and Valve Springs and Copper crush Washers for when the Valves are changed.
The compelte rebuild Kit is more extehsive and has the Crush Washer for the 30mm plug and a gasket for the Lift Pump to Fuel Injection Pump seal. It also has the 5mm O-ring.

The Bosch Kit has a buch of extra stuff not needed on your Year and Model.

I can't post any Kit Numbers as I am at the Library and I don't have the Numbers memorized.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking online for either the Mercedes or Bosch kits so far without any luck. LOTS of lift pumps for sale. Seems like no one wants to sell the rebuild parts though. I'll keep looking though.

I fogot to mention I don't believe you need to remove the Hand Primer from the Lift Pump. The Valve on that side comes out on the Bottom.

When you put the Lift Pump in a vice you need to be careful not to break off the Flange with 3 holes where the Lift Pump Bolts to the Fuel Injection Pump as they are thin and the casting is brittle.

Kit Numbers.
This is how the Genric Kit is listed on eBay and it i $15.50 with free shipping
Gasket kit to fit Bosch* Supply Pumps ADS-DGK-301

The Bosch Kit Number is DGK-301 or DGK 301 for the complete kit. You local Bosch Fuel Injection Shop would also be a source for the Bosch or even a Generic kit.

When I did Mine I used the Mercedes Valve Kit and scrounged an O-ring from the Local BMW Motor Cycle Dealer.

I did not re-read these threads for content to see if they match what you need.

Thanks good to know. I actually just put a brand new Monark hand primer on the lift pump a few weeks ago since the old one was leaking.

Noted. :)

Thanks a million 300Dman, much appreciated.
