Rear Window Defogger & New Glow Plugs?

Rear Window Defogger:

It seems that my rear window defogger is not working any more on my '79 300D, but the switch for it lights up when engaged.

Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, something I could quickly get working again? I was unable to get the rear window "unfogged" late last night. I tried using the front defogger and defroster but neither helped. Any help on this would be appreciated.

New Glow Plugs:

Can someone please share where I can purchase the new "fast start" Bosch glow plugs at a great price for my vehicle? I don't mind shopping online or locally in the Triad, NC area. I'm ready to switch to these before the cold weather sets in.

Thanks in advance everyone...

If you snap off the panels on the C-bars you will see the connections to the rear window defroster. 12V+ on one side and connected to earth on the other. Maybe there is some oxidation on theese connections.

If you have the old glowplugs with spiral you have to change relay and cables as the new fast plugs, pencilshaped (introdused in the early eighties I think) are connected parallell and the old ones in series. I don`t know whether they will fit in to the pre-chamber or not. Check it out before buying anything.

Thanks Anders for the feedback...

I don't know where the "C-bars" are, but I'll search more info on this.

Also, I'll double check which glow plugs I need for sure. My mechanic says it'll cost me $170 for him to upgrade me to the new Bosch plugs. This is for parts & labor.

Have any idea if $170 is a decent price for doing everything? He's open to me providing my own glow plugs and just doing the labor.

Thanks again...

Oh, as I´m swedish I don´t know if I´m using the expressions here. What I ment with "c-bars" was the roof bars between the rear doors and the rear window. And if you take away the panels on the inside of those you will see the connections. You may also check if you got any current in the cable connected to the defogger.
