Rear seat belts in our car does not roll up/in fully. The power to roll the belts in once they are used is low or belt gives to much resistance. I need to fed them in almost every time. I have read quite a few threads on seat belts in w220 here and I have found dealer practice to clean them with soap water. I did that to the belts and there was no or very little improvement. I could not get an access to the belt guides.

Is there a DIY for getting access to the rear seat belt guides? I have not found any. I want to clean it but I am afraid of removing whole seats.

I forgot to add that otherwise belts are working fine.

Any tips are appreciated. Jan

From my WIS, there is quite a lot of work just to reach the rear seat belt guide - eg:

1. remove rear seat cushion
2. remove rear seat backrest
3. remove panelling on C pillar
4. remove loudspeaker panel with stoplamp
5. remove sunblind, if fitted
6. remove rear shelf.

I have sympathy for you here, as my CLK driver's side seatbelt has been lazy to retract almost since it was 2 y/o in 2006. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn't. The passenger side is always OK. It is not possible to increase the tension, so it must be caused by the friction of the belt material. I wonder if talc powder would help?
