All my rear lights when out, dome map light, sunroof, and the license plate lights.

1.I have Serial number on the rear SAM A 0 28 545 8132 HW34/99 SW 30/99 (2) 33/00.

2. I purchased a working pre owned unit A 028 545 8132 HW34/99 SW30/99 (1)36/00

I installed the second sam, nothing WORKS at all, it's like I installed a defective one. Did I install the wrong one due to the "(1)36/00" not lining up?

I'm in desperate help, this car is just having ISSUES AFTER ISSUES AFTER ISSUES LOL.

Welcome to the forum @arkiteckz1990 - please take a moment to read the information on the link below. It explains how to update your user profile so that your car's details and your location appear on each post below your avatar. This is good information for others to know when trying to help. It also has good information about how the forums are organized and how to use the search feature:

Find your Forum Section, Navigate & Search

Post your VIN and I can lookup the correct part number for your rear SAM.

ISSUES AFTER ISSUES AFTER ISSUES LOL.
This isn't a car you should drive until things break. Preventative maintenance is key on this car, especially the ABC system.
Replace the hydraulic hoses before they blow.
When they do blow, shut off the engine immediately and DO NOT DRIVE ANY FURTHER (even if you are 200m from home)
If you do drive any further, metal parts will enter the system and will rip your struts open from the inside.
When that happens you basically want to replace every part of your system and flush the whole system

front and rear Sam are code specific ( part of theft preventive parts) you have to have it coded to the car they do this to help prevent theft someone with star should be able to sort this for you

Money's BENZ:
I think he said he did replace the sam.....

Tim: He did not ask about the maintenance problems..he asked about the sam....How many problems did you have with your ABC ?? Are you maintaining it properly ? Filter, oil changes, etc. ?
Don't discourage potential buyers for the CL. The cars are about 20 years old now - and issues are to be expected

I know, but you never know the knowledge of one.

How many problems did you have with your ABC ??
I only needed to replace the two accumulators

Are you maintaining it properly ? Filter, oil changes, etc. ?
Ofcourse, I'm planning on taking a look at all the hoses this friday. Hopefully I won't spot any leaking one, if I do, I spotted it before it was able to burst out on me :)

Back to the question, I think (don't quote me on this one) the SAM needs to be properly coded in order to work.
What is DAS thinking of your sam? Is it able to communicate with it?

Sometimes your lucky if you're installing one and grand home run. Unfortunately you must copy the old software to the donor.

If your rear Sam has water damage and chips etc are toast. How does one transfer information. Star Diagnostics or a trip to the dealer?

From what I can tell, it is 2002+ which require reprogram.
Please confirm if you can.
Kind Regards
Jim
