We had a new top put on by an indi, did OK on the top but busted up the interior rear glass trim and did not tell us. We lowered the top and broke it up even more.

We purchased a new lower section of the trim but I have a feeling this guy either does not know how to install this trim or he knows it will not work, very relucant to finish the job.

Any helpful ideas from someone that has delt with this kind of moulding install?

carguy I'm so sorry for this sudden loss. I'm experiencing a similar issue with my ML. I've been told that MB indy's aren't necessarily cab indy's. They can replace the pump, hydraulics, etc. but not the true top; almost consider it to be interior like & out of their realm. Is your guy 1 & the same or is this a ragtop guy only? The 55 is nice & I had an option on a 430 cab. This is only reason I decided the 55 hard shell.
if you dont' mind me asking what does a cab top cost these days?

Trim Guy

He is a top specialist refered to me thru my local INDY.
$1040 installed was the quote but when we went to pick it up he bumped it up a couple hundred.

considering your locale I don't shudder or awe at the true amount. upholstery guys are not MB guys. I've been burnt on this before as well so this is not an attempt to preach to you. research & review your 'limited top warranty' with this person. no discharge to him but it's probably to the letter of FL law. Meaning you are not to be made whole in this situation. Glass is now completely broken--not just cracked.
I assume this is a secondary machine from your language. If that's the case, just start over. & maybe not with an indy reference, just begin anew. forgive & move on. search this forum to see if your indy or other repairers are recommended here; mechanics or otherwise. I have a 10k mistake on my hands now so this isn't just a platitudal note. they 'say' they can work on a Benz...uh not so much. please keep us clk guys posted. we are concerned on your progress.
