I have a rear end clunking/binding/creeking noise when I exit my driveway, go over speedbumps, even during general driving. Kind of sounds like a boat creeking when you are in rough waters.

If anyone wants I can try to get an audio clip of it...it is extremely loud...(can be heard over radio 3/4 way up)

With all the parts that could possibly go bad, anyone have an idea where to start? I would like to tackle this before it takes out more parts with it.

My first thought was sway-bar bushings/links, second was shock bushings, both of which are also fairy typical wear items.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

I had the exact same noise when going up my driveway. It was a bolt on the subframe crossbar that needed tightening. There are 4 crossbars. 2 that go from the center front under engine) to sides (between front and rear wheel), and 2 that go from center rear to sides, 2 bolts per crossbar. All you need is a torx bolt socket. Easy fix. Note: I have a convertible. I'm assuming the coupes have these crossbars as well.

Same problem here. CLK 320 convertible. Was also a loose bolt on the subframe cross bars. The bolt just in front of the passenger side, rear wheel. All other bolts were tight.

It's amazing how much noise that loose bolt made.
