Bad plugs, rotor, faulty wiring, incorrect installation of Pertronix ignition. Old spark plug wires grounded out. Purchased the civilian conversion kit from EI (without the Pertronix ignition). Reset the timing and voila! Now I am hoping to just have to do the regular maintenance as she is running better than ever. Although, what I did discover this morning is that since doing all that, my temp. gauge is not working anymore. Not sure why. Hoping for an easy fix as I already replaced the thermostat about a month ago. Cheers!

Unfortunately, the original temp gauge uses a very thin capillary tube filled with alcohol. It runs right past your distributor and near the plugs and wires. If it gets damaged/kinked, it is all over. New originals as well as aftermarket units are available........
