Is any one else out there just as digusted with the quality of this new command unit? The sound quality is so bad that in order to get any bass or treble on the radio you have to turn both up all the way!! It still lacks on the bass response even with CDs, but not as bad. Sound quality was further dimminished when MB took out the sound shaping control. You know, the "large" room "small" room and "driver optimize" controls. These controls greatly improved the sound by adding or subtracting reverberation to accomodate the small space in the vehicle's cabin. Also, the ability to select preset stations from the steering wheel is no longer an option. This is rediculous since now all you can do is scan with your left thumb until it's sore. Further, the Navigation system is sending me needlessly all around town. The simplest trips down the street are becoming complex highway adventures. I have absolutely no idea why the Nav system programs the routes to destinations that it does, except that the routes are often discombobulated nonsense or simply wrong. And last, the way MB stuffed the 2005 command unit into the dash is horrendus and unacceptable. Absolutely no thought was given as to the final appearance. They just removed all the beautiful wood around the unit and cut it down at the cup holders. It 2005 command unit looks more like an afterthought rather than an integral part of the dash!! MB simply butchered what was once a great looking dash to accomodate this much larger, but lower quality unit. Shame on the engineers at both MB and Harmon Kardon for their absolute arrogance in believing that any of these changes listed above are acceptable. If there are any of you out there that feel equally disgusted by this please call your dealer & MB directly and express it!!!!
