Does anybody know a good and reasonable priced Re-Upholstery Company, which can redo the seating cushions of the front seats ?
Thanks

I have had the same concern as my passanger seat seems to be tearing and cracking. I have looked into and found a company that sells replacemet leather seats for the 140. The URL is on another computer so I can get it tomorrow for you. I will say though that it appears to be a VERY involved DIY project. The seat must come out, which involves a lot of disconnections (think about what all these seats do!)

If you could get the URL for me that would be great. Have you used them ? How is the quality and color match ?

For comparison, a Dealership quote from January, 2010:

(Driver's seat)

Seat Bottom: $795.00, 140-910-03-46-8F33
Seat Back: $950.00, 140-910-03-47-8F33

Labor: 4 hours, approximately $440.00.

The MB-dealer would remove the driver's seat, check for proper operation, etc, and reinstall.

Expensive, but they assured me the new seat would look as the seats were when my 1997 was new, etc.

That's actually not that bad at all...labor is a bit inflated but that's normal.

The aftermarket in the usa is quite good... but I wouldn't say they are identical. Padding, stitching etc I rate at only about 90% of factory. Could have a few bad stitch loops or not quite straight. Leather I'd expect to be the same.

Can you not find a used on for a passenger side seat, replace the horse hair pads and be nearly perfectly new(put the arm rest on it for the driver's side).

Gagha or worldaupolstry are the 2 that come to mind.

I used a company called GAAH, this is the same company used by the shop MB sent me to. I did purchase the covers, and after removing one seat (and a lot of connections) I put it back and had it done. GAAH gives you the oppurtunity to purchse bottoms or tops, and ships within a few days. I was shocked to find out that mine had hardened over the years, and not as shiney (detailers with Lexol) a while later they match perfectly. I think this company can direct you to a installer on their list. They were featured in the MB magazine a while back

How bad are your seats? Can you take photos?

If they are split, torn, cracked, they may be fixed and brought to very useable condition. There are a number of places who do this sort of work at your site, whether at home or office.

Take some photos as that would be a good determiner and the best way to advise you.
