Hi!

I recently bought an R129 that was imported from North America. I live in Europe. =) The thing is, that the radio has North American programming, ie the frequency intervals are 200 kHz and in Europe we have 50 kHz intervals for radio stations to broadcast.

Is this a hardware issue or a software? I would guess software, otherwise Mercedes-Benz in Germany puts another radio unit inside the export models to the U. S.

Anybody knows? Is it possible to re-program?

Best regards,
Robin

How many FM stations does the North America radio actually miss in Europe?

I should probably add that my R129 is an SL500 from 2000 with AMG SL2 package.

I don't think you miss radio stations in North America, it's just that you have another frequency plan. If I remember correctly, your stations are always odd at the decimal, ie 101.7 and 93.1. Never 101.4 for example.

In Europe the bandwidth of radio channels are about 200 kHz as well, but they can choose frequency with 50 kHz intervals and therefore our radios always tune with 50 kHz. One of my favorite stations is at 97.0 MHz, which is impossible to tune with the American radio... =(

Best regards,
Robin

It's the center frequency that can be missed with different intervals. I guess that you may hear a little off sound

I assume that is 97,000,000Hz (US notation) or 97.000.000Hz (Euro),
not 97.050.000Hz (Euro). Either radio can tune to it.
Can you press the * key on the radio then enter 97.0?
If that works, store it in memory then do the same thing for other stations.
If that does not work, call the dealer, ask if they can "re-program" US radio. Their free answer will give a hint of what to do next.

Thanks for your fast reply. Yes, I've tried the * key and it won't accept 97.0 MHz, only 96.9 or 97.1 MHz. I will visit the dealer tomorrow for advice.

By the way, I will also ask if it is possible to re-program the AC display from Fahrenheit to Celsius... Maybe it can be done with some key combination... =)

Best of luck!
