The left control arm is apparently bent, and the wheel alignment does not hold as a result. The mechanic says the bushings are worn out on both sides. Right control arm is apparently not bent, and the replacement is double the price of the left (I checked online) due to scarcity. I am going to replace both, but the question is, are the bushings separate from the control arm, ie,should I keep the old right control arm if it is good, maybe I could sell used and recover some of that doubled price on this scarce item? Or are the bushings integral to it such that it is no good?

Thanks for the input!

I replaced both control arms on my 2000 SL, last summer. There was slight difference in price between left and right side but not double, something like $25-30. Less than $300 for both.

Edit: FCP Euro today, complete assembly with ball joints and bushings… left side $110.99, right side $151.99

To answer your question, control arm bushings can be replaced but ball joints can not.

I replaced all the bushings and ball joint myself (with a press).
I don't have the ESP option on my car.
If you have the time and you a are handy you can do it yourself with the right tools.
my replacement was about ±80 $ instead of ±260$
