We have a recent thread about a member who was so frustrated with one of his 11 cars that he felt it should just be blown up. Granted the car sat for a number of years.

Just because a car sits up for a number of years, doesn't mean it can't be brought back to very respectable condition. Some months ago, I, literally drug this limited edition 190 out of a garage/barn where it had been sitting for over 4 years. There only were 700 examples of this car sold in the US and this one being #487 of that 700, I felt it was a worthy project.

Spending some time and correct money on these cars, yields very satisfactory results. The new owner is thrilled with his "first" car and it was a thrill for me to see a young man so excited and appreciative of what he got his hands on.

So, spend the time and reap the rewards... Here are some before and after shots

Nice. What was so rare about the car?

Also... is the red interior and pinstriping factory?
Because it is a Limited Edition model, available only the last year (1993) the 190E was sold in the USA.

Yes, that interior is factory, and part of the Limited Edition package.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was a fun project. The "Limited Edition" package included a number of items. The 4 place Racaro's being one, 1st. gear start, faux carbon fiber trim on the console and dash, de-badged trunk lid, full sportline suspension and steering wheel, 8 hole, 7"X 15" rims. The original headlights had the mini wipers like the 124's (sold with the car). This particular car also had all the service records and documentation from day one including the original sales documents and hand signed thank you letter from the President/CEO of MBUSA as well as a signed certificate of authenticity, with build date, build plant, VIN, #487/700 etc. Manuals and keys.

I've always thought these rare birds, plus the 16v cars, 2.6L five speeds and the '87 2.5 turbos were the most desirable 201 models.

Fantastic effort! The 190 six is a great driver's car and hard to find in Oz. Good you found it instead of someone who didn't know what it was.

I still have the Cosworth and will probably start in on it in September. I bought it several years ago and basically put it up. I've been gathering up suspension pieces, E400 brakes etc along the way. It turns into the wild thang once the tach hits 4 grand.

OK Jim, promise us you won't blow it up if it doesn't start immediately!

That must be a rocket! 190 with a six,did they come with a 3.0 or only 2.6?
small car uh,love the 93's,no room in the back seat area but who care's!
if I found a white one with grey cladding, grey leather I'd buy it,from a distance they look like an E,until you walk up to it!

Came with the 2.6 engine. It was called the sportline but the 2.5, 2.3 cosworths were quicker.
