They replace the rear heater diffusers under the front seats.

I cheated and got a black pair from a BMW 7-series. Work just as well!

They dont actually replace the diffusors, they just sit on top with some velcro on the bottom to make them stay in position.

These footrests were just "klicked on" the existing rear vents under the front seats, so there is no "installing" or replacing as another member here already mentioned. And using the BMW or W126 Footrest is of course an option, but is not original.
