Apologies for the title of this thread. I just don't know what it's called in proper tech-speak. My service guy says that it's a very important part of the cooling mechanism. You can see on the 2nd picture that the fan blades are scraping the bottom of the frame, I've highlighted it in red. Now, I've checked with the local parts store, and they're quoting me $340USD. Is this a fair price?

I know I haven't given much detail and it's hard to tell what's going on just from a couple of photos, but I'm hoping someone else has had that problem before.

he will be refering to the viscous clutch, which is an important part of the cooling system

For my 280 a non OEM one would cost 155 euro's so apx 200 USD.That's just the viscoclutch no labour.

So basically.. it's important enough to replace right now, and if I don't, failure of the clutch might lead to irreparable damage, correct?
I just want to gauge how critical this thing is...
