I have a real stumper of a headache with this R350 Fuel Gauge
It does not move off empty (though the low fuel light does go off when you start it)
Star Diagnostics, shows F(ault) on Motor Electronics 9.7 says error 2225 there is a short circuit to positive on the left hand fuel sensor.
That sounds straightforward enough until you follow its directions and check the following 3 items
1) Communication with instrument cluster (this test comes up OK)
2) Rear Sam Module (this comes up fine, have also reprogrammed this, strangely when checking the actual values, both left and right side of the tank show readings which change as vehicle is driven). Also when checking sender via REAR SAM star diagnostics it shows that there is NOT a short to positive, which is conflicting information to the motor electronics ecu.
3) Check Internal CAN for communication errors, (this test also comes up fine)
I'm obviously missing something here, I have no idea what to try next, have tried disconnecting battery to reset gauge, no joy. Everything seems to be OK when interrogating all the units except the motor electronics which shows the above short to positive fault. (current and stored)
Has anybody had anything similar. Or does anyone have any other possible solutions or ways to reset the gauge or try to solve the problem.
Thanks in advance
