My wife hit a deer and the right headlight took the brunt of it. Rather than shell out $1,200 for a replacement Xenon assembly, I thought I could convert it from the Xenon's to halogens. has anyone done this and if so are the housings the same and what needs to be done wiring wise? 1999 SL 500.

Why don't you try your chance with a used housing on ebay or used parts lot?

Check the classifieds, there are R129's being parted out.

Are you sure it's the entire housing not just the glass?

It is definitely the whole housing not just the front glass.

Sounds like a hard hit; I hope the Mrs is fine...

I still say let's search for a new used one. Try Dostrix.

If you still don't want to buy the replacement for the xenon, I will trade two good non-xenon headlights for the other side (the good xenon) you have.
