I just registered, and still don't see how to access the videos on how to replace a r129 convertible top. I see no "blue stickies" at the top of the r129 forum page.
How do I access R129F12_001.mpeg?

I must be blind. When I click on your link, I get a list, but when I click on the r129 disassembly video, I get nothing. I don't see them at the top of the r129 forum. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help. The link worked, and I viewed the 14 videos. (I guess I thought that the download engine was just an advertisement the first time.) I feel reasonably comfortable in spending a day or two doing this myself after viewing the directions.

jmblomst you are welcome. As I think you noticed reading the forum for a bit this is not a forum but a wide and international family.
Anyway, if you use the search engine of the forum you might find some threads of people that did the job by themselves and it's a tough job.

Good luck tho.

Cheers.

Where are you in southern Wisconsin? I am in La Crosse. Lart year I did my top. I must say that you need to be patient and watch the videos as you proceed. It took me 3 days with the help of my father. It is helpful to have another set of hands at times.
You might want to take the present top off and then set aside two days for the install of the new one. Make sure you note where everything goes when you take the old one off. Taking the old adhesive off was a pain in the ... Be careful and cover the painted areas and the interior around where you are working when you use the solvent to remove the adhesive.

I'm in the process of replacing the top right now...literally right now. I just removed the old top and cleaned all the bows today so I can begin the installation this weekend. Word of advice: check all of your cables so that you won't be disappointed and delayed when you take off the old top and find out that you need them. There is one along either side of the large rear window, one that runs along the top over the glass window on each side and one that runs along the back bottom side on each side (tensioning cable). Five of my six were broken and required replacement. I am going to rebuilt two of them myself given their cost ($137 each!). The others were cheap ($13-16 each).
Good luck.
