Hi,
I would like to facelift my driving wheel with newer mercedes style. Anyone done it? Which are the possibilities. My concern are fitting + airbag

Any steering wheel that shares the same airbag as the one you currently have will do.
As for your options, try the forum's search option or google should help you find what you seek.

What year did those wood-trimmed steering wheels come into play? I really like those; much more classy.

Plug and play? No issues with the SRS Airbag?! Did you disconnect the battery prior to removable and reconnection of the airbag?

The previous owner had a recent CLK steering wheel with radio control buttons installed; of course, the dual stage airbag was not functional, nor where the radio controls.

I had it replaced with the model in my previous post; if I remember correctly, the car was taken to a Merc specialist (not the dealer) to insure the airbag was functional and reset the dash light.

The below photo shows the old steering wheel. It was purely aesthetic, and pretentious with those non-functioning buttons.

This is my updated steering wheel and airbag.
It's not a direct plug N play. Although a friend of mine was kind enough to get my horn and airbag to function corectly with some OEM parts.

Old post but...

Has anyone upgraded their 92 SL steering wheel, and still have the original???

My air bag is good, just need the wheel since the leather on mine is missing a piece of leather on it.

Or are the W124 (1992) 300E/400E interchangeable with the R129?
