Manufacturer's specs for R129 AMG SL1 Sport Package is 33 PSI (F) and 36 PSI (R), adjustments can be made according to actual tire tread wear pattern.

Personally, I have my tire pressures set at 35 PSI (F) and 38 PSI (R) for normal everyday driving on AMG I Monoblocks wheels with 245-40-R18 / 275-35-R18 tires.
thanks Neoken.
I checked them today and they were all over the place, from 21 to 30.may have something to do with car sitting in snow and ice :)
I did set them all at 35.
I was just wondering if pressure is different on this compared to regular tires.

The tire sizes that you are referring to where offered in 1999. So If you had a 99 I would suggest that you look inside the gas filler lid.

My car came with 245/40/18 with a suggested 33 PSI and 275/35/18 with 36 PSI. So somewhere between 30 and 36 PSI. Setting yours at 35 PSI should not be a problem.
well,my is 92 with amg sport package(wheels and bumpers)which was added to car later.reason I ask.stock it came with 225/55 all around and gas lid say 30/32.than it say +7 for warm and +4 for over 100mph.
I will try up/down.

sorry,I was wrong.it say 30/33 for normal load and 30/35 for max load.
original tires were 225/55 R16 according to gas lid.
I tried different pressure with dunlops I had on car and it did not matter what I had car drove like crap, wondering around and shimming.
I figure tires where old and junk even tough there was plenty tread left.
got new tires,NT555 and it is like driving different car,so smooth.
they did put high pressure in them, like 42.tire guy said something like they wear funny with low pressure and better to keep it higher.

I'm concerned that you have additional problems with your MY92 that is causing your tires to act up and after a few thousand miles you may have the same recurring problem with the Nitto's..

Did you have an alignment done after putting the new tires on? If so, I would hope that they would tell you the truth about your front and/or rear suspension need new parts. If it does they should say something like this, "I'm sorry but I am unable to align this car due to....".
I don't have any problems any more.I just took dunlops off and got nt's on 3 days ago and all problems are gone.
problems were with dunlops I had on.

All new tires always ride better than the old tires.

Did you get the car aligned or when was the last time it was aligned? If you can't answer this question as I already asked it once above then I suggest that you seriously consider spending the $90.00 in order to save your new Nitto's.
no,I did not.
I only got car for month or so.
I did check records and previous owner had it aligned recently.he complained about same thing.with dunlops on car would pull to one side, either left or right when driving on road with any groves.steering wheel would shim at some speed, around 65...etc.I checked dates on tires and 3 of them where over 10 years old.one was 5 year old.wear was fine,I guess just to old.I tried up/down with pressure but nothing would cure problems.I decided to get all new set of nt's.
it drives like dream now.
I am mainly confused with pressures.stock tires it calls for 30/35.with this wider and lower tires I get all kind recommendations.check gas door,go couple pounds higher, guys that mounted new nt's said 42-44....etc.I am driving with 42 all 4 right now.
fronts are 235/45/17 and rears 275/40/17.

40-44 on 17 is to high.
You are riding more on the center of the tire then the rest.
Try 33 to 37 or something.
Don't forget that tires are a part of the suspension.

Now if you want to run fast around corners or skidding is ok to run higher for a bit,
but not for every day driving.

I run on 245/40/18 Falken a little hard, last long, not bad looking, a price that I liked, rims AMG chrome 18"/ 34 et 39 psi all around so I can rotate. ;)
PSI, is little on the high side, if a pot hole comes I am ready for it.
But I don't look for problems or spending big. $$$$.

I do check the psi every two weeks, and before I go on a long trip.

I have no problems, car drives like an arrow, never had balancing
or wondering problems, like other members have complained.

Regards.

Chris, here is an example of another forum member that does not run an offset pair of rims because he likes to be able to rotate all four corners which really makes sense vs. running through a set of 275/35/18 in about 14K miles with plenty of rubber left on the front 245/40/18's.

I do know about tire/suspension.in fact I am very familiar with concept.

reason for question about pressures.on 2 wheels we don't run anything even close to what is normal for every day use,nor we use tires for every day.
I am not in to drifting and burnouts but corners are what I live for :)
I just don't have any experience with car tires, been driving van for last 20 years.

personally I don't care about rotating and saving tires.I am interested in maximum traction out of them.tires on cars are relatively cheap.I pay almost same for 2 tires for bike and they last one weekend if I am lucky :)

Cheapness depends a lot on your wheel and tire sizes, twf. Unfortunately, a single one of my 275/35/18 PS2's costs more than 3 or 4 normal sportbike tires. :crybaby2:

If you have 16" or 17" rims, then the cost drops dramatically. I love the look of the 18"s, but I don't think the performance is really any better than you would get with 17"s, and boy do you pay extra for tires. Anyway, just wanted to point out that tires aren't so cheap, depending on your sizes. I wish they were cheaper...
I just got all 4 tires mounted on car for $600.
front and rear for my bike is $400.
I get 200 miles out of bikes tires :)
btw.neither my MB or my bike is mean of transportation.they are toys that cost.
I get pissed when tires on my regular car don't last 50k miles.
go figure :)

You got an entire set of tires for $600, including mount/balancing???

WOW, that's cheap!
$625.09 to be exact.
$115 each front and $146 each rear.
like you said,it must be cheap 17's :)

Nice tires, nice bikes, nice girls. :)
Don't like crashes and champagne. Haha.
Try to keep the black side down, and the sunny side up. ;)
