We have a 1995 SL320 fitted with factory fit rear child seats. These are sculpted and not flat benches so do not work in conjunction with booster seats. Is it legal to carry a child in the rear within the manufacturers statements in the owners handbook???

This must be country specific but at the time the car was built, the rear seats were certainly intended for use. Actually I thought they were allowed for adults too, although the room is not sufficient for tall persons.

At our place (I believe an EU regulation) no more persons are allowed in the car than the number written to the registration documents. What do your papers say?

The rear jump seats were a dealer/factory fitted option. I am not aware of regulations in various parts of the world, but you must, keep your roll bar UP if anyone is sitting in the back.

Check the r129 roadster forum section, the subject has been covered before.
