I picked up this 2001 SL500 three years ago and now getting around to posting some pictures. I live in So Cal and had the car shipped from Florida. The car had 52K miles when I bought it. It now has under 55K miles. (It's my toy.) I didn't do much to recon the car, just a few plastic parts and fluid changes. The car came lowered w/ Bilsteins and HR springs, new rotors all around w/ ceramic pads, new top w/ new hydraulics, new summer tires. etc. I added a Sebring (read: Remus) exhaust and that's it. One of these days I'll take it up the California coast. Here's some pics:

From last year just before the r129 meet. Can’t wait to get the hardtop off again this year

I just passed the 10th anniversary of having this car and I never get tired of the lines. Coming out from the restaurant after a rainy day this evening

In this pic it honestly looks more like an R107:

And, in that regard, this is akin to making a Cullinan look like a Range Rover. Why?

I can’t get over how the finished result makes the wheelbase look so short. The creator must have removed several feet.

Poor SL600 😢

What’s going on with that silver car in the background? Is it a Camaro or Mustang? So over designed and fussy. Compare to the simplicity of yours! Beautiful!

Hello gang. New owner here. My 99 SL500 with about 90k on the clock, sport package, and (imo) the best color for these cars. This is a daily driver for me after several years of living in a city where I didn’t need a car.

To-do list includes: paint correction, carpet shampooing, headliner replacement, hood pad, trunk struts, and swapping for continental Bluetooth unit.

Just out for a nice spring drive. I've had this car for 10 years and I've become a lot more judicious when taking the top down. And it isn't on 100° days

Hey Doc -- sweet car.

I would recommend parking nose out (or ass in) where possible. Those parking stops are the mortal enemy of R129 bumper covers and for the extra minute negotiating the parking lot, its worth eliminating the possibility of tearing it up. If the building only allows nose in (or ass out) parking be sure to stop WELL before you even get close. The car isn't that long and it will spare you that awful feeling you get when you hear/feel your bumper cover being devoured.

And where do you live to have the "100° days" ? And yes, as BRN9121 said, "Nice Plate".
