The safety catch -- small lever -- must be rotated all the way. Wear in that cable sheath means that for me I must apply pressure to that lever, hold it down so that contact with the mechanism is attained. Just a slight gap means no-go. Try holding it down while you release with the other.

I am new to the forum and new to the 450SL family. The convertible top latch continues to pop open. I believe this part is the culprit. Can this part be replaced without replacing the entire mechanism?

Wow! it all looks new. The wire s/be adjustable. If it's popping open it's probably not tight enough ? I had to adjust mine when I installed a new top .

I am a new 450SL owner so let the gremlin projects begin! The convertible top lock keeps popping open while driving. I'm guessing it is related to this small broken part. Is it possible to replace the pin assembly that holds this locking part in place?

You might be able to MacGiver something but really need to replace the entire assembly. PN is 107 750 04 41. Around $400.00 new. I would search EBay or place a want to buy ad in the BenzWorld For Sale/WTB forum For Sale/Wanted/Trade/Giveaway You don't have enough posts to use the 107 subforum.

thank you Rowdie. I stopped by the Mercedes Classic facility in Irvine yesterday and they agreed. $500 for a new one!. My next door neighbor is an aircraft mechanic and he took the part to work for a consult with his buddies. They have lots of cool stuff and might be able to swedge the pin enough to make it work. Fingers crossed.
