You aren’t giving us much information to help you out. Do you want to start with filling out your profile or telling us what year and model vehicle you have?

The trick to that mod is having ALL the bits and pieces....clutch pedals, master cylinder, slave cylinders, shifter and linkages and on and on.

Ok. I’m still learning this newer forum platform. I see you have a 1982 280sl.

You want an electronic speedo transmission or to create your own pickup sensor.

What 5-speed transmission do you have?

Hi Paul,

Weirdly I have just made a thread on the same topic.

On there I put some information I found about directly bolting in manual transmissions.

Do you know your transmission model number?

At least there’s some back and forth in that thread. This one seems like a tease.

Of course if he says he’s got all the parts to do it, he must know what he’s talking about. In the pic above, it appears he’s got a 717.4 with electronic speedo pickup, a driveshaft, etc. he doesn’t say what it came out of, so this thread just seems like a big tease. If he believes he has all the right parts, and has no questions, other than whether it will work or not, then I guess I will answer the question...

I got a 5-speed manual gearbox. Can I use it directly on my automatic gearbox? thx!

Yes, if you have all the necessary parts from a 280sl 5-speed, or if you plan to fabricate then, then yes, the parts can be swapped in place of an automatic transmission on a 280sl r107.

There are a lot of 5-speed manual gearboxes out there, but from the picture, it appears you have a 717.4 with an electronic speedo hookup that would be needed for a 1982 280sl. So it appears you already know what you are doing.

Why ask if you already know what you are doing?
