which would be the most quiet (lowest noise level inside the cabin) summer tyre 235/60 R16? I do not care for wear resistance because I make a low number of kilometers per year at relatively low speed (max. 150 km/h). Comfortable drive, not sport one.

Michelin pilot primacy?
Continental ContiPremiumCintact 2?

Reasonable price versus quality, low noise level (high comfort) and low tramlininig are the factors. Thanks.

I have the Michelin MXV Primacy and love them! Quiet and great and in the rain.

Agreed. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 is a great tire. I was really impressed by the wet traction when I switched to them.
I had those on my Lincoln, nothing was really better, quiet, comfy and everything else felt like solid rubber.

thanks for replies. I checked on net and figured out that primacy mxv4 is an all season tyre. Pilot primacy is a summer tyre. I prefer summer type because for a winter I already have continental tyres (do not remember which model exactly but definitely the top ones).

So, I assume that Michelin pilot primacy will be a very good option according to my demands (ready to sacrify tyre wear for low noise level)?

I had the noise problem in my 928 a while back, I switched to Perelli P-Zero Asimetrico tire's. Very quiet with good traction. I'll recommend it any day!

+1 on the Primacy, they are currently on my S420. I bought them in 2006 and am a believer.

They also have a treadwear warranty here in the U.S. now.

I have a set of Continental ContiProContacts on my S420. They have a good ride and handling, but are nowhere near as quiet as the Michelins. I'm switching back once this set wears out.

Don't even know if they come in your size, but you might also consider Bridgestone Turanzas. They greatly improved the ride in my W126.
first thanks to everybody who replied. It is clear now that Michelin pilot primacy is ok.

yes, the dealer near me has proper Turanzas for 166 EUR each. Michelin pilot primacy is for ca. 200 EUR. I have a chance to get 4 michelin primacyies for 400 EUR (one year or less old, not used, from second hand). However I am slightly afraid what if they were not properly stocked? Then I will "save" 400 EUR and get troubles ...

Now I have Pirelli P7, 5 years old. I had to balance tramlining with decreasing the pressure from 2,5 bar to 2,2 bar (last year everything was ok with 2,5 bar, so it is evident that aging effect started to work on my tyres).

Hi samosali,
Sounds like you already have the winter months covered with your second set of tyres , so its the summer months we are looking at, things to look at are , the more fancy the tread patten the more road noise, a harder compound tyre would give you more KLM your car is heavy, believe me they will warm up, road surface, THE BIGGEST FACTOR, how I would love to be motoring on the smooth road surfaces of some of these countrys, in New Zealand they use quite a big stone chip in the seal, so our wear factors are a bummer,a good tyre shop will have a gauge to poke into the tyre to show you the rating of the tyre, hard compound,(colder running ) soft compound Hotter running , hope this is not to confusing, but sometimes we all get lost in the flash pictures, the sales hype, brand of tyre, and our focus gets lost, and all of a sudden we are putting racing slicks, on a 2.3 ton car that are the hottest running compound around, and wonder why we only get 10,000KLM out of a set of tyres, easy ? no, as one old stock-man told me , you got to shoe the horse for the terrain your working on boy, funny how things dont change to much, good luck.
EJ.
