MLOFFROAD asked me whether my '04 OEM 18" rims (et43) will fit on a '79 G230??

I would not expect it to...but i want a more definitive answer.

Thanks a lot.

There's no such thing as a 1979 G230. In that year, it was a 230G. [8D]

I think you need shims, but I'm not sure. If those much bigger wheels are used on that small motor, there will be a LOT of engine power (torque) lost to the wheels; and braking will be significantly affected - adversely, too.

Actually, people here have posted pics that the et43 rims are close enough to the et37 factory 460 series alloys that they work quite well as far as fit and finish goes.

The et63 18's would sit to farther in and you might have rubbing issues since the tires are wider than was usually used on the narrow et63 factory steel rims.

I'm guessing the biggest power loss will be due to an increase in diameter if you upsize the tires... might want to get some 255/55r18 tires... but the extra weight of the rim at a larger diameter will also make a difference.

Bolt circle and hole bore is the same, but i don't know about the hubs to know if you can use the same bolts or not.
