The compressor should kick in yes, when called upon to do so. I'm not sure if it's thermally protected; in other words if it runs really hot some compressors will shut down/off. If you have a drastic leak and little freon left, I'm not sure what happens in the sequence of things.If the A/C gas is low will the compressor still kick in?
Well, I would think about replacing the AC sensor that signals the fan relay (assuming your aux fans work) and then get the system recharged. If you have to lose freon by replacing the sensor, it doesn't make sense to replace it after the system is recharged and your fans still won't come on. Offhand, I don't know how much the sensor costs.I hear the A/C click on under the hood, but the fans do not come on and the Air is barely cold...where should i go 1st?
