Hi everyone. I tried searching to see if this had been posted before but couldn't find anything.

I have an 06 ML 350. I picked up the Bluetooth MHI Module from AWS and had the dealer install everything today.

The phone (an unbranded RAZR) is working beautifully with it. I have yet to test my Treo 650, but I see that taroliw has had pretty good results.

In my owner's manual it shows a Tel option for the Multi-function display in between Trip Computer and Standard Display. However, when I scroll through the various windows, I can not see the Tel option. Is this something the dealer forgot to activate or is there any way to activate it on my end?

Thanks everyone.

Your dealer forgot to activate the phone menu in the display cluster. This happen to me also when the VPC installed the MHI, the tech forgot to do so. In fact I brought my 2006 E55 to the dealer today for them to activate the display in the dash. Now I the phonebook shows up both in Comand and the display cluster. Go see your dealer and have them activate the phone menu.

Don't feel too badly though. The VPC might have remember to code the MFD to show the phone when they installed my MHI (from original order), but they forgot to install two extra microphones in the overhead console! [xx(][xx(][xx(]

The coding problem is something the dealership should be able to resolve fairly quickly though.

Just came back from the dealership and they were no help at all. (Un)lucky for me, I'm the guinea pig as this is the first Bluetooth install they've done. They claim that the Bluetooth module doesn't allow for integration with the MFD, which I have argued to no end. Finally, I called Customer Care and spoke with a technician who told me to have the dealership call their Technical Assistance Center, as it is possible. The dealership said that they tried to set it up, but no option existed.

They scheduled an appointment for me NEXT Thursday to get it coded.

Is it really that difficult to set up? Is there anything I can tell them to help expedite this install? I really didn't think it would be this difficult. I wonder if it would be worth the drive to head down to Kansas City... Maybe they're more familiar with bluetooth/phone installs.

They are idiots!!! I was observing when my tech activate the display. It is all done through the Star Diagnose computer. Once the tech. gets to the phone option, all he did was move cursor with the mouse and check the box for the phone option and that is it. It took less than 2 minutes and it is no brain surgery. Heck I could do it myself if I have that computer. Some tech. are lazy SOB. If they still have problem, call my tech( his name is Kerry) at Mercedes Benz of Buffalo at (716) 633-0088 and he will educate those idiots at your dealership. Good luck.

The programming is completely different then your E55. Alot more advanced actually....pretty hard for a "idiot" to figure out....[V] You have to update the software/coding string when the phone is installed in general the phone type/system is irrelevant. Procudure is usually reffered to as flashing or SCN coding the instrument cluster in this case.
Hopefully your tech. friend is not payed flat rate unless he can flag phone calls.........
