Just looked at / drove a 1972 350SL grey market car. Headlights were converted to US style, had a 4 speed hooked to the 4.5 V8, an AMG front facia and Kilometer speedo. The rockers were rusted very badly but a set of OEM rockers for each side was included. Floors and trunk looked good. The car was $4000., had alot of power (compared to my '81 380SL)and needed paint, rust repair and some resto on the dash, bumper and console. Are the dashes and console units repopped by an aftermarket source or can I find these items in a MB trade magazine? Is it wise to get involved with grey market cars? What are the conversion items needed to make them US legal? Any inherant problems with the first year of this style 107? Thanks ... John
