I just took the stock 17-in AMG wheels off my CLK430, and my dad was looking into possibly putting them on his 1983 380SEC. I am pretty sure that the offset is higher on the rims than is normal for the 126, but will they fit? if not, what kind of spacer would i need to get and how much would that run? would 235/45/17 tires work for those? thanks.

check offset...

Well, I just put 17x8 rims on my W126 and my offset is 22(recommended offset is 20 - 32). I think the CLK's offset is probably anywhere from 37-44. You might want to check and make sure. I know there are some 10mm spacers you can get to make them work (assuming the offset is more than the recommended). If you take the wheels off and look on the inside of the wheel, you might see the offset.
As for the tires, yes, that will work. I have 235/45/17 in front and 255/45/17 in back.
Hope this helps.
