I have a SLK230, and I am think about replacing the stock bose sub woofer.. Is it possible to mount the non free air sub in the stock position?
I heard that I'll need freeair since there are no boxes... but does it really make that much difference?
There is no such thing as a 'free air' subwoofer that sounds as good as or better than one in a correctly built box. Every subwoofer sold has Thiel small parameters (measurements)which dictate the volume of the box for that make and model subwoofer. If space is a consideration seek out either a smaller sub or a box that can hold the sub you want and vent the bass to where you want it to go inside your car. P.

Stock Sub

There are two things that you might do:
Replace the stock sub with a new box and amplifier or add more power to the existing one.
I upgraded power to my sub but wanted more. Then Iupgraded the box and added an amplifier, all depends on your needs.

Adios Amigo.
