hey guys!

quick question... here is what happened

after 3 days in bed from stomach flu, chicago weather was freezing, then 60... got in '01 clk55 and when I hit the brakes my front right was shaking, stopped by my mechanics and saw a lug was missing, he tightened all my wheels up and said to check it out and come back... it still kinda pulls or is a little shaky, could a missing lugnut really cause this? or could my rotors possibly have warped from the change in weather?

also, what size is my lugnut so I can goto auto zone and get one....

thanks!

ur all the best

ps - this is not to mention 5 minutes later I got a huge screw in my rear tire! what a day!

Glad you're feeling better (and the weather is nicer, too!).

You won't be able to find these lug bolts at Autozone, you only need one, just go to the dealer, that's the least headache.

One missing bolt would not make the wheel shake. Being parked will not warp a rotor no matter how cold it gets, either. Were all the lugs loose? It is possible someone was trying to vandalize your car if it was outside and maybe got interrupted.

Is your mechanic an MB specialist? If so I'd have him take a longer look at that right front end, obviously it shouldn't be shaking but there are a few possibilities, and it might actually be suspension-related.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

have you previously changed that tire? there are different lugs for the car theres a longer one for the regular rims and there is a shorter one for the spare this could be the problem too

i would look at your tie rods, but if your tech just tightened the lugs he should have checked the fron end. if everything is tight you might want to look at your steering shock. when those go bad they allow the front end to shake and pull.
