Seems that there is no actual seperate turn off for the audio source (CD, Radio, Sirius). If you turn off power to the Command then the Nav is also disabled. You can either turn down the volume control or engage Mute, but the audio source is actually still active even though you don't hear it. Is this correct?

This is correct. You could switch to AUX (assuming you have nothing hooked to it) and have no audio input.
