I have a 1995 E420. I have noticed that lately the cruise control will take spells of not setting. Regardless of my efforts the cruise control will not engage. Then the next time I drive the car it will work as it should. The problem is intermittent but is getting to be more common. Can anyone tell me what is going out or needs to be replaced. Thanks.

Here is what I know about the cruise control system in my 1994 E420. Some of my brake light bulbs were beat or soon would be. It checks for continuity in the brake light circuits. If the brake light circuits are faulty it won't work. Try replacing your bulbs. Check your brake light switch as well. My cruise control didn't work and then I replaced my bulbs and now the cruise control works as it should. Just a suggestion and is relatively inexpensive to try out. I'm sure someone else with more knowledge can further advice will chime in, but this worked for me.

All the lights are working but I will go buy replacements tomorrow and give it a try. Thanks.

My cruise control stopped working last week, then I changed the OVP relay and now the cruise control works again. Got mine from ebay for $26 NEW. Be sure you get the updated one.
