Hi all. I'm a newbie to this forum and a former owner of an 87 300E. I'm looking at possibly purchasing a 2001 E320 with 77k miles on it. price is 17900, which leads me to wonder what's wrong with it. can you all in the forum give me an idea of what I should look for when I go look at the car? I'm going to have to drive 2 hrs to get to it, so I'll probably only get once chance to look before I have to make my decision.

Thanks in advance.

Price is well below market but mileage is high. Check for repaired damage, service records, etc. Might be in your best interest to have an MB dealer go over the car before purchase. I traded my 01 for an 05 in Jan and got 28K and some change for my 25000 mile 01 but it was a 4 matic which is worth a few bucks more than the rwd. On all of them look at the Cats for leakage and internal rattles.

You should look for rust it's a well known problem even in dry climate zones!

Cluster pixel errors seems to be a problem at the facelifted versions (00 and up)

Noisy column steering is also a common problem.

You can search this forum for more info about problems above.
