I'm currently installing a new alarm on my 500sl 82 model.
I've run into one problem, that is the remote central locking. On close examination it appears my system runs on a vaccuum system. Where do i connect the alarm wires into? Is there anywhere that controls the vaccuum pump that i could connect up to?

remote central locking

Hi,

I have just installed remote locking into my 280 SLC and found that the best way to do it was to use a standard electric solenoid type acutator to move the existing locking rod. If you do this on the drivers door, as it is the master in the locking system, it will trigger the rest of the locks in the usual vacuum way. It is a little brutal as solenoids don't really know subtlety, but it is quite effective and reliable. The solenoids are widely available and are simple beasts with a power wire and usually a relay based trigger system. Hope this helps.
