I started to remove my radiator fan tonight to get access to the crank to check my timing chain strech.

The first two bolts came out ok, but the other two are tight and when trying to undo, the pully that they are screwed into turns rather than the bolt.

Any suggestions on how to lock the pulley or have other solution?

put a screw driver between the bolt and the pully and loosen the second bolt, don't take it out until you move the screwdriver to the second bolt and break the first one free.

Removing engine fan

I need to change the water pump on my 500SL.

After I loosened the four bolts on the water pump pully I noticed, when I tried to take one bolt completely out bolt that the bolts are kinda long and will actually butt up against the fan before they will completely exit the hole.

I tried to look in my Mitchell's guide but no luck.

How do you remove the radiator fan? Thanks
