How to price a 90' sec for sale as a private seller, thinking of selling mine. In LA, CA, low miles, 65k, 2nd owner for 19 years.
If this is not the right place to post, feel free to remove or relocate it.

Look at craigslist in LA and at Bringatrailer.com and compare yours to what's for sale.

You can’t get anything near bring a trailer prices, unless you bring the car up to all Current services and fix any issues and post as much detail and the hundreds of pics and videos as in a bring a trailer ad

That is the reason I posted here trying to get some ideas on setting a reasonable price, if possible.

there is one for sale on car gurus an 89 with higher miles and asking $18k. with yours being newer and lower miles i would say $25K+......there is an old saying you can always go down, hard to raise the price after an offer made.

I don't have 100 photos but do have several only for ref now.
I bought those 16" wheels years ago from a very active long time member here, Jim from Castro Valley who passed away several years ago. If anyone remembers him. Really enthusiastic and nice gentleman who drove 400 miles that day to deliver these wheels to me.
Seems not that difficult to gain that $5000 back if it truly matters that much, I have no idea. Fortunately I did save the 15" stock wheels somewhere in my shed, I hope.
The 2 biggest problems are the non working sunroof which not closed tight at the rear left corner and leaking AC compressors as I was told last time. The timing chain was replaced at 60k years ago costed me $2000.
Just try to collect some of you guys thought so I can price it reasonably

You have to fix that little stuff no matter where you sell it. Is that Astral Silver or gray. It doesn;t look bright enough to be Astral. If its silver and you put on some correct rims and decent tires and there isn't anything too heinous in the photos you might get the $25k without BAT. I personally don't think a silver car with a beige interior is a good combination but I know others think it is ok.

PS: In your photos, if you have the temperature wheel turned to max cold people assume it barely works. Just sayin. And, anyone paying $25 for an Internet car will want to see photos of the problem areas. Drivers side rear window from the trunk and the outside, headliner, etc.

Oh, and lose the covering up of the license plate. Buyers will want to see your Carfax anyway and photos of your service records.

Ouch! You have those nasty cup holders.

At least ditch the sheepskin. Everyone will assume the seat is got a problem which I am sure it does not. But, they will assume the worst.

There! I got you on your way. Now if you get more than $25k for it you can sell mine. Its black/black with lower mileage.

based on the window sticker, it is called "smoke silver" as I recalled.

A lot of people like smoke slver. Just be sure to photograpgh it carefully so it does not look gold.
On the cup holders, you might be able to get them off and make an invisible repair to the door panel. My 300SEL had them and the upholstery guy said he could make them disappear. I dodn;t do it, but he was a pretty reputable custom leather shop.

Your car has a lot going for it - excellent wood , no cracking in the drivers seat bolster .

the AC and sunroof are potentially expensive fixes so buyers will assume the worst ($2-3k to fix each problem ) if you don’t fix them

Nice to see Jim mentioned. Really liked him and miss him. No surprise that he delivered those wheels to you.

Your car looks really clean. And nice to see a sunshade.

The sheep skin seat cover and the cup holder came with the car when I purchased it. These were all popular things at that time I assume. The sheep skin were not cheap at that time like $4, 500 each side and of course nobody want them now. They are heavy and thick. I did not even pull the passenger side off during my 19 years ownership. Hope that is as good as the driver side. One thing I did add is the shift knob rod so I can switch the shift knob to whatever I prefer. It is the leather/wood combination one on the car now.

Thanks for noticing the automatic rear sunshade, again dig out the original window sticker, it was merely a $365 option, cheap from today's standard. Sticker price $81500, option $365 and gas guzzler tax $1300.

$25k is the number I saw in this post so far and I might start working with that number and thanks all for your help and tips. I am not trying to make money on this just hope to find someone can appreciate the car, enjoy it and take care of it. Just sold my sel last week and this is the next. The SL will follow. At least this is the plan.
Let me known if there any other opinions, thanks all agin.

Follow the advice here. Take the time and do it right. Not doing so will cost you thousands.

Those are great wheels, but get them off and sell them. Plenty of Gen II SEC wheels out there.

Remove the sheepskins, clean the interior and then take pics. Look at successful BAT auctions so you know what works.

Your ride looks great and that interior appears to be exceptional. You should command top dollar if you do this right. But I do get the feeling you don't want to put in the effort needed.

A.C. needs a recharge will cost any of these cars many thousands in lost money. Get it fixed. Period. Otherwise many who'd go for it won't even think of trying. Just sayin.'

Just because you saw someone post $25k doesn’t mean you can get that , unless you bring the car up to “bat “ quality which means fixing the AC , sunroof , changing the wheels , taking off sheepskin, etc.
