Hello Everyone,

I was curious to see if anyone has had a similar issue with their car. My 1980 450sl has a problem with the power steering. It whines like it is low on fluid when it is cold. Once warmed up it operates without issue. The fluid appears to be full and clean.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

When was the last time your power steering filter was changed?

I've never had this happen on my MB, but on an old Chevy I had, the inner lining of the low pressure return hose swelled and almost pinched off the return line. I got that same groan until I tracked it down and replaced the hose. In my case, it was very loud when cold, quieter when hot, but I could always hear it. Maybe your hose is starting to deteriorate. Or maybe it's something completely different and I'm just barking up the wrong tree. Sorry, that's as close as I can get.
