Hey guys. I just purchased a rebuilt PS pump from someone in the parts section... he's now banned for some reason. It got me to thinking about the pump I bought. It looks very clean, however there's a little in-and-out play in the shaft when I pull on the pulley, maybe about a 1/16". Is this normal? I hope I didn't get hosed.

I don't want to pull the old pump and install a bad one.

I would say that a little fore and aft play is normal. But I would defineitly reseal the rear of the pump at a minimum before putting it in. Get the seals from autohausaz, just a couple of bucks. You can do the job with a large C-clamp. The instructions are in the manual. If it were me, I would go further into it and check the vanes, etc, and also replace the front shaft seal. Have fun, Charlie

The pump already had the seals replaced. I was just wondering if the play was normal. No sense in rebuilding something that was already rebuilt. Thanks for your input.
