Does anyone know if the power steering gear box leak in a 1993 400SEL is a common problem? I currently have 135,000 miles on her.
My mechanic diagnosed this problem and has indicated two options
(1)repair the existing one by taking it apart and replacing the gaskets, for an estimate of $650
(2)replace with a new one for an estimated cost of $2,200.
What are the pros and cons of each option that any of you may have experienced?
