Can I get a part number? And is it really necessary to use MB branded Power Steering Fluid?

If you read on my earlier posts in the recall thread I am having a pretty serious leak in the return hose to the power steering, it is leaking power steering fluid. From what I read it is a recall but it seems that the SA at my local dealer (Leith Mercedes) won't look into it for me.

I read that one of our members put a 1/4 turn on the nut to tighten it, and i was going to get that a go. First i was going to remove the hose and see if there is any sign of wear then reattach it.

Never mind found some at Autohaus...

How would you guys take care of this, it is a recall ( think), but i do not want to get the truck towed there only to find out that this item is not a part of the recall.

The recall is for the HOSE, and that will be replaced under warranty, regardless of mileage. If your ML has not had this replaced, it needs to be!

The fitting is not under recall, just something that loosens up over time. I would not mess with the fitting unless you are certain the hose is OK and that the leak is definately from the fitting.

Thanks guys...

road -- From that picture it looks like the very bottom hose coming from the radiator, is this correct?

The SA finally returned my call, she said that it is the powersteering hose that has 10yr unlimited mile warranty. So lets hope that I can get this done. I hope that it is the correct hose that is fubar!
