Long story short. My power steering belt rubbed a hole in upper engine oil cooler line. Ok i have temp repair made and got to work 200 miles away with it.

The thing i can not figure out is why?

I have not done anything under the hood, the lines are to stiff to be bent, and appear to be in normal position. Pump belt looks like it would hit regardless of length.

What would cause this, engine mounts?

Anyone have a good permanent fix besides new lines?

a hydraulic shop can fab up new lines if you bring them you old ones (they'll use the old ends)

My concern is, why is the power steering pump belt rubbing the line in the first place?

Shagged engine mounts maybe... If the engine is moving enough when you give it beans could it contact?

Or, try watching the lines while you get someone to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, the fluid rushing through the lines can sometimes make them move under the pressure.
