my car has cvt and after hard braking car doesn't want to accelerate and slightly vibrates until it reaches 30 km/h. also a deep whining noise occurs. after accelerating noise goes away. I can drive it without any problems if I don't use brakes too much but when I do, it tends to loose power and makes whining noise. any ideas?

In all of these many years here, that problem as described above has never been reported. What's the mileage ?

Just wondering if very hard braking would cause a starvation of CVT fluid "if it was low" and this might translate into the above symptoms. ie: Not enough CVT oil flowing if the low oil gets shifted to the front end of the CVT for a few moments..

I have the manual..so I'm just thinking out loud here.

it's 190,000 km on the clock. I checked cvt fluid level and it is ok. I suspect that the torque converter is failing, but I need to be sure before buying a new one. my theory is after braking torque converter releases the clutch and when acceleration completes it'll lock and I don't see any problems after locking.
