later rear windows (that open)? sounds pretty involved, aren't they power opening?
The W163 was designed from the start for the power quarter windows. It just took a year or two for them to be available for purchase. The studs for the motors and the threaded holes for the hinges are already there. Instead of being glued in to the body, the fixed windows are just glued to a rubber weatherstrip that’s clipped on to the pinch weld. Adjusting the positioning of the windows was by far the longest part of the operation. I still need to run wiring, but that’s pretty simple. Power and ground wires to the switches, and two wires back to each motor.

They are the 5100's that fit a 97-01 Toyota 4-runner rear. The bottom needs a little modification by making bushings, but other than that, they bolt right in and allow more travel.

Perfect, thats what I was looking for. I turned my torsion bars up and shoved 285/70/17 mud terrains under and was looking for something that would give a little more travel. Thanks!

Nice scenery.
Horizon is not level. ;)

We have drive on beaches here in Texas as well. I prefer to keep wax on lower control arms intact.😷

Those are stock ML430 Sport headlights that are HID. All stock. I sanded them with progressing 400-800-1000 grit and when my painter painted the rig he clear coated the headlights. Better than new and will last indefinitely since he used a high solids clear on them.

With this nice new spiffy paint job, when is it's next 4x4 event? :giggle:

Interesting! My 2000 ML55 has the exact same headlamps, they also are auto ranging (up and down) level adjustment, plus HID. Didn't know they came on anything else from the factory (other than peterbilt trucks apparently )

Mine has the height adjustment as well. I think they came with the "sport" edition on the ML430 along with the fender flares, etc.
