It has been done. Several members have threads about their lifts and custom bumpers with a winch, but the recent software change to forums has made finding them a ghost hunt.

Man I love this 7 seater ! Almost 200k kilometers but this tank just drives as just rolled out production. No issues at all. Not a single thing that doesn't work. My first benz and have been an Audi fan for a decade but Merc has a special place in my heart already. Four rings and a star!

I like the euro hitches, the way they go under the bumper cover. Is that your caravan waiting to be towed?
Yes sir! Let's go retro! haha.

So there are minor differences between EU and US models? Wasn't aware of this yet. And that hitch looks so high quality too. It hasn't been used at all on this truck. Can't wait to tow that caravan and go on an adventure.

Yes the US hitches are what we call a 2" receiver hitch. 2"inside diameter square tube that you insert a 2" outside diameter tube with a tongue that take various sized hitch balls or a tongue with a welded or cast ball permanently attached. But the receiver does not curve around the panel you either cut it or buy one pre-cut. Most hitches I have seen were dealer installed so they cut the panel. The one advantage is you can buy straight tongues or one that drops down or up to accommodate various trailer heights.

They are probably the same with those corner side brackets all mls can tow 5000 lbs US max. It is a great car we got our 500 with about 168,000 the 350 a bit more. The 500 needed mounts replaced and new tyres after that it drives like new not a rattle.

You will love it, my wife has a hard time giving me the drivers seat. I have to sit in the passenger and pretend it’s right hand drive. Lol

Just got 315/70/17s on my 01 ML430. Working on lifting the rear with my own spacers. It rubbed in the back with body roll in corners and over bumps. That was solved with a hammer but I'm not even going to flex it yet until I get the spacers in. Rides great though.
