With the rising prices (at least here in the US) of fuel, I thought it would be good to have a small poll. Post your current fuel economy and perhaps how your car is set up--gassers and diesels

Me:

300D turbo, 23 mpg with ALDA tweaked 1 turn CCW and EGR capped (I have yet to clean my trunk lol)

Current prices of diesel fuel here are roughly $2.70 [] I might have to drive somewhere to get a gallon for $2.50[xx(]

300D Turbo getting between 22-24 miles to the gallon. I need a valve adjustment and I will be purging my engine in a week or so, both of which should help a little. Diesel is $2.49 here at the lowest and $2.80 at the high end. Last fill up I paid $2.57

Im getting a solid 26 mpg overall. But, then again I drive pretty slow, and the engine is almost brand new. Diesel is about $2.00 a gallon here

From Palm Desert to San Berdo, 67 miles, 134 round trip, 70-75 most of the way, some stop and go on the trip home for about 10 miles. I get a consistent 26. Fuel has been a steady $2.59 @ Mobil for weeks (now Chevron). However with it starting to get hot I'll be running the Air so That will probably drop. My engine is brand new and a California Version. My first tankfull, since I just bought the car, was 30.22 MPG. After seeing the others I am starting to think I did my calculation wrong.

In Atlanta we can get diesel for as low as(or should I say as high as) 2.15 per gallon. But you have to look around. I paid 2.329 per gallon yesterday.

Put 315 miles on her this weekend, 90% on the highway with a yield of a solid 28 m.p.g., and that is with an average speed of 70-75 and 16" tires.
Not too shaby...
Diesel is currently at $2.13 per gallon at Speedway.

Those who have above 26mpg, is your ALDA tweaked and EGR capped? I haven't really done experiments on how far I can go with EGR and ALDA in standard configuration.

I wonder where the gassers are...[:p]

I'll get between 28 and 31 with my '81 300TD Turbo, depending on how I drive. On the highway I'm usually running 65 to 70mph. Much above that and it drops to probably around 25. This ain't bad for 223,000 miles and needing a valve adjustment.

Diesel is running anywhere from $2.459 to $2.549 in my area. I was up in Concord, NH this past weekend and found it for $2.309. I have found places in New Jersey at $2.259, but that was a few weeks ago.

Consistent 29-31 mpg with 90 percent city driving. I'm driving a 240D manual transmission with 262,000 miles. Diesel about 2.15 per gallon in Missouri.

i just picked up an 82 300d turbo 2 weeks ago and im getting about 24mpg. the only work ive done to it so far is change the oil and coolant. im going to order the wrenches for the valve adjustment this weekend.
i paid $2.13 for diesel last weekend in New Jersey.

hopefully i can avoid going to the pump by making my own b100 biodiesel but im still a few months away from getting everything together.

Karugs, I have not touched my alda nor the egr. The only real modification under the hood is a K & N air filter (and that cannot really make a big differance) and constant fluid changes. Again, my 28 mpg came from almost all highway miles at 70-75 mph.

Obaja, you mean to say you have "NO" muffler, converter or anything? Just a straight pipe running all the way back? I bet that sounds, "interesting"...

I get about 22-23 mpg running mostly freeway miles on 18s. Then again i drive like 80+ most the time. What are the benifits of tweaking the ALDA and capping the EGR . Also does anyone have alink to show what this proccess takes.

Thanks

I wonder, do you guys use up your fuel until the "R" lights up to get great fuel mileage or do you just take those readings at any part of the gauge (even when there's 1/4 fuel left)? I usually don't go below 1/4, so I usually fill up 12 gallons mostly.

Usually drive 80mph on the freeway. Maybe that's why. [:D] I'll keep driving until my fuel is at R and then turn the ALDA back to original spec, fill up and let the miles accumulate! I hope to get better mileage. I wonder though--because some of you even have the ALDA all the way out and EGR GONE yet get great mileage.

If I were filling up @ 1/4 I'd be getting fuel every other day. I usually put on 402 miles and take about 15.4 gallons. That makes 3 round trips of 67 miles. I'm guess I'm kind of a "Creature of Habit". I say it's my "routine". [8D]
