Hi all, i made an account specifically for this. about 6 years ago i bought an s600 from a friend who bought it around 15-20 years prior. The car is badged like an s70, feels like an s70 (I can tell it has alot more power as i have 3 other s and sl600s), and has special parts like the s70 does. Is there anyone around these forums that could help me confirm or deny the identity of this car? thanks all.

^^ absolutely nothing like that.
A real 7.0 is usually very discreet. Maybe you’ll find an AMG plastic plate glued over the Mercedes Benz script on the fuel injector cover. You can also look for AMG stickers in various places like the radiator support.
The surest thing is a 7.0 stamping on the block right near the engine number.

I posted a link to an auction for an authentic S72 engine not long ago, here:

Three take home messages:

1. MB engine number and VIN will not have anything useful as to determining if the engine is stock or modified

2. The engine, as another lister said already, will not have much visible changes but will have a stamp like this one (sadly, no displacement or signatures of the builder :))):

2651589

3. The absolute best verification as to what you have will be a letter from MB-AMG (now the same company):

That's a weird letter with several mistakes in it. In 1993 the CL did not exist. It was still SEC or S Coupé.
And Hubraum 7212 cm³ does not exist as AMG engine.
Standgeräusch is way higher than Fahrgeräusch.

No displacement added since this is 6 liter. The 6.9, 7.0, 7.2 and 7.3 are added when it actually has that displacement. Besides the 7.2 which is in fact equal to 7.0.
