Its been a while since ive been on here. Lost my 190d to a -38 degree night in maine. Headgasket cracked, and since it had a leaking coolant and i hadn't drove it in a few weeks, and then the radiator cracked, i had an audi at the time, and gave up my benz, and now i regret it. Junked it for 100 dollars. Worst mistake ever.

Anywho onto the new. Im now out in denver and have been looking for another 190e or d. I found a 1984 190e with 136k on it for 1000obo. Needs a battery, oil change/tuneup, and has a dry rotted tire. That tells me its been sitting a while. But from that, whatcha guys think. Also compared to the D models, what are the longevity and different problems that the E will have compared to the D. my diesel was a beast and barely had any problems. Any insight would be great. Also any prices for tires, full fluids and tune up and battery costs woudl be great. Im looking for a cheap car thats gonna last me for a while, i feel like this will. Give me some insight!

Yup, In the Detroit metro area a car body goes before the miles are run out. Sad,

The car sounds like an expensive proposition if it has been sitting. Find one that is being run on a regular occasion and save yourself some headaches. $1000-1500 will find you a running car in fairly good shape, if you look. Is it in great running condition?
Offer him $500, as it is more useful as a parts car.

depends on if it's been sitting outside or in a garage, and go look at the engine. does it have 2 v-belts or the serpentine. while i love my 84 beater, it's a pain to look for parts because it's a pre-october model with 2 belts. it has alot of different sized items on it

then again give him $600 cash and toss the other $400 at it for repairs
