So I got a new problem.

I occasionally do not feel that elastic feel/ recoil in position 3 in attempt to start the vehicle.

This has happened twice beginning yesterday.

You start the car, turn off later & can't start back right up. After 3-4 attempts the recoil drag in position 3 returns & then cranks & starts.

No code on scanner.....

What are your thoughts about this symptoms?

To restart immediately, you must turn the key all the way back to position 0 first. This is the design of the system, to avoid starter operation when the flywheel is spinning.

The spring that returns the key from position 3 is inside the ignition switch (black and white plastic cylinder), not anywhere around the lock cylinder (metal cylinder with keyhole).

If you occasionally turn the key to posiition 3 after insertion, and get no crank on the first attempt, then the day you replace the ignition switch is fast approaching.
