1991 500 sl, Japanese import, has two brackets on the right side of firewall by passengers floor under dash. Is this for a flashlight anyone know? Does anyone know where can an original one be found etc, just want to keep it original looking.

Yes it is-it should hold any standard flashlight. Mine does anyway.

I think it is most likely for the fire extinguisher I took mine off and put it in the Trunk. Mine was mounted just in front of the passenger seat, looked more like an Indy car than a gentlemans rocket ship

Oh, I was misled when I clicked this. I thought it may have been a fleshlight holder...

The bracket is for the flash light, and this is standard in the Japanese cars.

I got three for my cars for free from the Salvage yard (of course when you buy some part you can ask for it for free).

I do like it since it has magnet in the bottom and red light where you can stick it any place of the your car body in case of night emergency stop!

I better start checking with junkyards, $26.00 is pretty hefty. But I really doubt any will be found in our junkyards in north america. I think it would be kind of cool if I could find one and install it back in.

$26 : The $6 is for the flashlight, the $20 is for the MB logo.
(If you look at it closely after you buy it, it is made in China).

All cars in japan must carry a roadside, strike and fire warning flare, inside the car for breakdowns.....(thats what the brackets are for).....we saw these all the time when importing them to new Zealand...(they had to be removed by NZ law for fire hazard)...my stepfather was a importer and used auto dealer
